Nitrogen technology makes the difference!
02 February, 2024
Fertilization of winter cereals is an integral part of the crop and a determining factor in order to achieve maximum yields and a high-quality product produced. After sowing and base fertilization, the nitrogen applied in the surface fertilization will support the plant in the critical stages of twinning and elongation, increasing production and seed quality.
Lubrication requirements
During the process of fertilizing, the aim of the producer is to cover the required lubricant units of the crop, with the aim of exploiting the maximum production potential of each field. Indicative amounts of nitrogen (for high production potential) for the cultivation of soft wheat are 15-18 kg/str. , for durum wheat 14-16 kg/str. , while for barley 8-12 kg/str. Of the above indicative amounts, ½ or 1/3 (5-8 kg/sq.m.) is preferable to be applied to the basic fertilization in order to ensure the coverage of the plant’s needs for the formation of its basic organs (root, leaves), while the remaining amount is applied during surface lubrication in one or two doses. The choice of the type of fertilizer and the time of application depends on a number of factors such as the sowing season, weather conditions, expected yield, soil analysis, etc.
The recommended types of surface fertilizers from Agrohellas are 46-0-0, 40-0-0, and 35-0-0, to which NBPT and Limus inhibitor technologies can be applied.
Surface lubrication
Due to climate change and its consequences (reduction of rainfall, dry heat conditions) which prevail more and more intensely in recent years, it becomes necessary to apply restricted fertilizers in order to reduce nitrogen losses and the applied amount to be better utilized by the plants.
Agrohellas, having as its main goal to bring the “future to nutrition”, innovates by having in its portfolio products that enhance cultivation while at the same time respecting the producers and the environment. These products include urease inhibitors, biostimulants, amino acids and liquid fertilizers.
The Limus technology applied to granular fertilizers guarantees reduced nitrogen losses and increased uptake by plants, keeping it available during the critical stages of crop development. The unique effectiveness of Limus, BASF’s double inhibitor, is ensured by the combination of two active ingredients with synergistic action, NBPT and NPPT. These two ingredients block the urease enzymes responsible for converting urea into ammonia and carbon dioxide, reducing gas losses by up to 98%. Due to the above, the use of Urea 46-0-0 Powered by Limus has the advantage of reduced nitrogen losses and its optimal availability to the crop.
Foliar preparations are also an important part of the fertilization of winter grains, acting as an adjunct to surface fertilization, aiming to directly cover the needs of plants in macronutrients and trace elements, as well as to strengthen the resistance of plants to abiotic stress.
Agrohellas, having a strategic partnership with the Dutch company Eurosolids, has on the market a wide range of premium products, as well as private label products of the Agro category.
GrainFit Liquid 18 – 0 – 0 + 6(SO₃) is an innovative biostimulator with the appropriate nitrogen-sulfur ratio and the addition of Ascophyllum nodosum algae. By applying it, we ensure an increase in the protein content of the fruit, while at the same time stress phenomena in the crop are limited, thus ensuring a more effective uptake of nutrients and improved yield from the plants.
The Aminoagro and Phyto Aminoagro preparations of the Agro category are biostimulants in liquid form enriched with organic substance, polysaccharides and amino acids. All the ingredients they contain are of 100% natural origin, facilitating their inclusion in plant metabolism while stimulating physiological and metabolic processes such as strengthening the growth of the root system, increasing the effectiveness of plant protection products, as well as increasing the resistance of plants under biotic and abiotic stresses
