Hayward C8

Hayward C8

The Hayward C8 kiwifruit variety is the most widespread Actinidia variety in the world. The fruit is comparatively larger than the conventional variety, it produces mostly single fruits.

Kiwifruit ripens 1 week earlier than the conventional variety. It has a better post-harvest behavior and a comparatively longer shelf life in cold storage. In addition, it requires less thinning and at the same time produces better fruit quality. Finally, it has shown increased resistance to Phytophthora (Phytophthora spp. oomycete)

All of the above make it a reference variety throughout the world, while it is unquestionably the most cultivated kiwifruit variety in Greece.
